Sunnyvale is a Silicon Valley tech hub with more affordable housing than many nearby communities. Residents enjoy close commutes to hi-tech businesses. There is a clear distinction between Sunnyvale’s residential and industrial zones, with most homes located south of U.S. Highway 237 and major local employers located to its north. Homes within Sunnyvale are a mix of mid-century modern and contemporary single-family homes, townhouses, and condominiums. There are also new developments, such as the luxury apartments of The Flats at CityLine, built within a recently revamped area of downtown that also houses an AMC Theatre and a Whole Foods Market.
Sunnyvale’s lively historic downtown district is centered on Murphy Avenue. There are a plethora of places to shop, dine, and drink along this street and those adjacent to it. For international cuisine, try the refined Chinese dining at

Country Gourmet on the corner of Fremont Avenue and South Mary Avenue is another Sunnyvale standout, serving seasonal dishes using locally sourced ingredients. Murphy Avenue hosts many events, including a weekly
Farmers’ Market held each Saturday year-round. The only week the farmers’ market isn’t open is during June’s
Art, Wine & Music Festival, which features more than 350 artists and craftspeople.
The Summer Series Music + Market brings a varied line-up of live music acts and vendors to Murphy Avenue each Wednesday between mid-June and late August. And
Jazz & Beyond is an 8-week, free Saturday night Summer Concert Series.
Local public schools include Cherry Chase and Cumberland Elementary Schools, Sunnyvale Middle School, and Homestead High School.
